QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q What happens to my present registration number?

A Nine times out of ten the original number will be re issued to your vehicle as and when you come to transfer your new cherished number to another vehicle or retention document. If you want to guarantee that you will get your original number back you will have to retain it, we can do this for you all in one go if you forward a cheque to us payable to Department of transport for the sum of £105.

Q What happens to my deposit if I change my mind before the transfer and no longer want the registration I have reserved?

A The full deposit is lost. We do not offer any refunds if you change your mind.

Q Does the price include the vehicle?

A No. You are merely acquiring the right to use the registration number on your own vehicle after it has been transferred from the present one.

Q Are registration numbers good investments?

A Values of all numbers have increased over the past few years and there is no reason why this trend should not continue.

Q If the transfer should fail do I get a full refund?

A Yes. We guarantee to give you an instant refund in the event of a transfer failing. However, if the failure is due to you not supplying the necessary documents within the period of time required by us, no refunds will be given. Issue of the new V5 by Swansea shall be deemed proof of acceptance of the transfer.

Q When can I put my new number plates on?

A Number plates MUST not be displayed on the vehicle until advised by either PERSONALLY YOURS or Department of transport

Q How do you know if a number is genuine?

A The donor vehicle is inspected by The Department of Transport to ensure that it is the genuine vehicle and registration. We take care of all this. If any discrepancy is discovered the transfer will fail. However, it should be noted that The Secretary of State for Transport or their Agents the (as keeper of the records) may revoke the relevant right to a registration mark at any time for whatever reasons, and Personally Yours Registrations cannot be held responsible in the very unlikely event of this occurring.

Q Does the recipient vehicle need to be inspected by the authorities?

A No. However, if for example, there was a change of construction of the vehicle the authorities may then want to inspect it. We would notify you if this was necessary.

Q How long does a transfer take?

A The average time scale is three to eight weeks. We ensure that every transfer is expedited as quickly as possible. In some instances transfers can take longer and the time period cannot be guaranteed, but we would keep you informed of the progress in any event. However, it should be noted that the transfer cannot be started until we receive the requisite documents.

Q What happens if I need to tax or MOT my vehicle whilst the transfer is being processed?

A This presents no problem for us, you simply send the tax application to us, ensuring that you state the old registration number on the application form. If it is just a case of a new MOT being obtained, again you ensure that the garage MOT the vehicle under the old mark and send the certificate to us immediately.

Q What if I want my new number on retention ?

A This can be arranged without any problem, but once you have the certificate you the new nominated party will be responsible for any extensions for the certificate . PERSONALLY YOURS may be able to help but can not be held responsible for any expired certificates.

Q Is it possible to transfer a registration to a vehicle registered with a "Q" mark?

A Transfers are not possible to "Q registered vehicles.

Q Do I have to keep the registration on my vehicle for any specific time period before I can transfer it again and how do I do this?

A There is no time restriction and transfer is a simple procedure which can be applied for yourself. Your cherished number can be transferred to a vehicle of your choice. The vehicle will then be assigned a replacement registration number appropriate to its year.

Both recipient and donor parties are responsible for notifying PERSONALLY YOURS immediately of any changes which may affect the

transfer in any way whatsoever.

PERSONALLY YOURS liability is confined to the initial transfer only and until the new V5 document is issued from Swansea.

Any further transfers should be conducted through the recipient parties, vehicle registration office. PERSONALLY YOURS will not be

liable for any further transfers after the initial transfer has been completed.

The purchaser is only acquiring the right to apply for the transfer of the mark from the donor vehicle to his/her own vehicle. The transfer

will only be successfully completed when Swansea issue the replacement V5 document or retention document (which ever

applies) PERSONALLY YOURS liability is confined to the initial transfer.
